LOG ON TO FAMILIES MATTER ONLINE NETWORK

A key element of the Families Matter initiative is providing mechanisms and opportunities for schools and families to connect to each other, compare notes, provide feedback, raise matters that other participants may have views on and generally throw open to informed discussion any and all aspects of the initiative. To this end, Families Matter has established two avenues for online discussion under the umbrella title of the Families Matter Online Network.

The Families Matter Blog is a weblog for families involved in or considering participation in Families Matter to post comments, share experiences and compare notes about FM programs.

The blog allows visitors to join existing discussions or start new ones. Like most weblogs, the Families Matter Blog is designed to be very open and accessible, with no registration requirements, allowing for anonymous postings and generally welcoming any and all participants. The only rules are those aligned with common decency and mutual respect. Any defamatory, obscene or abusive messages are simply removed. Repeat offenders will be identified by IP address and prevented from posting.

FMON EdNA is an online group hosted by Education Network Australia as a forum for FM facilitators and project managers to raise, consider and exchange information about organisational and administrative aspects of Families Matter.

EdNA Groups is a free service to facilitate and promote communication and collaboration between members of the Australian education and training community. As such, it is seen to be an appropriate and secure environment for Families Matter participants and interested parties to discuss common issues.

All EdNA Groups, including Families Matter Online Network, require user registration. This process is free and will not leave you open to possible abuse of personal details provided. You may find it useful to download and print out our FMON Logon Summary for reference as you go through the user registration process.

Once you are ready to register and participate, Families Matter Online Network may be accessed by clicking here.

You will find guidelines for the use of Families Matter Online Network, background information on Families Matter, resource material for participants, opportunities to participate in existing email-based discussion groups - or to start your own, links to useful online resources and facilities for real time online chat. We look forward to your participation and we thank you for your support.

A help desk and support service for Families Matter Online Network is provided by Kelli Kiernan in Brisbane by phone on (07) 3356 9400 or by email.
